The post where Google announced the launching of their new Operating System has a brief description of what people want from their computers. It’s a good summary of the tough demands people have on machines today:

People want to get to their email instantly, without wasting time waiting for their computers to boot and browsers to start up. They want their computers to always run as fast as when they first bought them. They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files. Even more importantly, they don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates.

Congrats to the Mozilla Foundation for this update, some of the features are amazing:

HTML5 and tag support

Private browsing mode

New technologies: Downloadable fonts, CSS media queries, new transformations and properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 local storage and offline application storage, text, ICC profiles, and SVG transforms

I mean it sounds pretty good. http://getfirefox.com
